The South Shore Denim Chore coat is based on the classic French Chore Coat. This hardy piece of outerwear has evolved over the past century from a practical uniform worn by blue-collar laborers to an everyday staple for men and women worldwide. This practical and easy-to-throw-on coat is made from 100% WeatherWool Denim. Our exclusive wool denim transcends the gap between formal and casual. From work to play, formal to the forest, WeatherWool denim is more than capable.

The chore coat boasts five large external pockets:

    • Two handwarmer pockets
    • Two big front drop pockets, secured by buttons, behind the handwarmer pockets
    • One chest pocket that holds a field notes journal or a phone

Designed for the shoulder season but cut with a relaxed fit to comfortably accommodate a heavy wool shirt or sweater underneath to push it into cooler temperatures.

Although Denim and the Chore Coat are new for us, they conform to our original philosophy of Hardcore Luxury ... luxurious garments offering hardcore performance.  The Denim is soft and comfortable against bare skin, but handles weather and work.

The South Shore Chore Coat comes in colors Denim Charcoal and Denim Indigo.

The South Shore Chore Coat, named for the South Shore of New York's Long Island, where it was developed by Advisor JR Morrissey, is our first offering in our new, 100% Wool Denim Fabric.

The video was made by, and features, Advisor Cody Bokshowan.  At the end of the video, Cody enters a log cabin he made himself, starting with standing timber.  Check out @TrustinTimber on Instagram.

This photo shows the Denim Charcoal and Denim Indigo colors, both front and back.  More explanation is on the Denim page linked above, but basically only half of the yarn in denim is typically dyed, and the denim weave creates a fabric with contrasting face and back.  (Sorry, Ralph neglected to get a good photo from Cody.)

Factory8 (Advisor JR Morrissey) has nearly completed their work, and we will be shipping the Chore Coats by mid-April.

The website will accept your paid order.  Thank You!

    A fantastic coat

This is my third WeatherWool piece and it may be my favorite. The fabric is incredible; it's so soft and pleasant to wear. The cut is great and the detailing is phenomenal. I've taken it with me on a one-bag international trip and it's an incredibly versatile piece to have given the wide temperature range and the fact that it can be dressed up or down. Outstanding work.

Beware this one weird design flaw

My Weatherwool South Shore chore coat has revealed a major flaw: although the luxe wool denim indigo garment looks like a ruggedly stylish edit of a traditional chore coat, slips on easily, and feels comfortable and broken in at a first wearing, it draws so many compliments that it is nearly impossible to take off. What am I supposed to do? Wear this masterpiece of denim weaving and tailoring everywhere from Saturday chores and errands to Sunday socials to workday meetings and date nights? I'm asking. But I'm not sure I have a choice. Dang it, Ralph, and your advisor JR Morrissey too!
